The Production of Nightwalk - End Paper Marbling - 27/03/12

Due for publication by Harper Collins on the 26th April, 2012, NIGHTWALK by Chris Yates is said to be his finest.  Chris has not written another fishing book; that was not what was wanted by this worldwide publishing house who believe that Chris is a true nature writer, and having read a proof, I wholeheartedly agree.  It is a beautifully crafted book which should have a very broad appeal to a discerning literary readership.

River Reads Press is delighted to be producing a deluxe edition of this book for London-based publishers, Mayer Benham.  Strictly limited to 50 leather-bound volumes, 9 will include an original drawing by Chris’s son, Will, (only 7 were offered for sale) and 37 volumes will have hand-marbled endpapers co-designed with Jemma Lewis, whose clients include leading designers.

The photos were taken at a recent workshop at Jemma's home in Melksham when she introduced me to the fascinating techniques of producing hand-marbled paper.  I thoroughly enjoyed the hands-on demonstration.  It was great to see Jemma use her talents to produce the design which will be used for the endpapers in 37 volumes of the book.

As a boutique publisher, it is such a privilege to be involved in the creative process.  I do hope that those who were fortunate enough to reserve a copy will truly enjoy the hand-crafted, bespoke elements of this very special edition of NIGHTWALK.
