Hardy Hardy "Gold Medal" 14' Salmon Rod with Spare Tip

This is THE Hary classic cane salmon rod. A three piece (with extra spare tip) built cane salmon rod. It is the usual 14' long salmon rod of the period. The serial number is E34245

As with th best of Hardy rods it comes with 'lockfast' ferrules, 'W' reel seat, with locking alloy ring. Agate lined butt and tip rings and comes with its original bag and ferrule stoppers. In fact, this rod is original throughout but has varnish crazing as virtually all of the rods of that period do

Hardy Hardy "No.2 AHE Wood" Cane Fly Rod

This is a 12' three piece built cane fly rod manufactured by Hardy's of Alnwick, probably the premier rod company in the world when this was made. The rod is the No.2 A H E Wood, named after the man who made greased line fishing for salmon as famous as it is today. 

The rod comes in its original bag and has agate butt and tip rings, bridge rings elsewhere and the usual Hardy Lockfast joints and 'W' reel fitting.  The butt cap is brass with usual stamps, but could do with polishing.  The rod is in very good condition, original throughout and would suit the collector as an exhibit, of for use if you have sturdy wrists.

The Serial No. is E20233 dating the rod to 1930

Hardy Hardy "RCB" 10' Two Piece Cane Fly Rod

This is on of the less common Hardy rods, the RCB. It is a two piece 10' cane fly rod with screw reel fitting, agate butt and tip rigs, bridge elsewhere with Hardy Lockfast ferrules. it come with a Hardy rod bag.

The serial No. 60811 makes the year of manufacture just after the war in 1947

Hardy Hardy "The Pope" 10' Cane Fly RodThis is a classic rod from Hardy, probably the premier maker in the world at the time. This is "The Pope" a 10' two piece cane rod. The cane and tyings are original throughout and the handle has been cleaned and a new button screwed in. The Butt cap is stamped Hardy's Pat Rings 2307, and "The Pope" and the serial No. A1121 dating this rod 1904. The reels seat is stamped Hardy's W reg 16.8.73 The rings are angled bridge rings with an agate butt ring and a replacement tip ring. The unusual feature is the closeness of the intermediate whippings all the way from butt to tip making the rod more powerful than the regular one but a slower action.

This is one of the classic Hardy Rods. It is the "Pope", a 10' rod in two sections manufactured of built cane. It has a screw reel fixing, agate butt and tip rings, bridge rings elsewhere. It also as the lockfast ferrules, typical of hardy and comes in a Hardy bag.

This sweet Hardy split cane fly rod is the 9' 'Gold Medal' made in 1936

It has 3 sections with lockfast ferrules, bridge rings and screw reel fitting. The rod is in lovely condition throughout but does have light crazing of the varnish as the picture shows which is a sign of its age. Otherwise a beautiful rod.

Hardy Kennet built cane fly rod Hardy Kennet built cane fly rodA 92926 This is a Hardy Kennet. Quite a rare rod.

It is original throughout although the spare tip is a little bit short but has had the tip ring put on again. The varnish is starting to craze with age. However, this is a high quality rod with nickel silver fittings and a reversible butt spear built into the handle. Comes with original rod bag.

This rod is in very good condition, original throughout. It has a small diameter handle which I find a bit small but the rod has a powerful action and have used it for light deadbaiting for pike with success.

Hardy Murdoch cane spinning rod Hardy Murdoch 11' Cane Spinning Rod with spare tip

Hardy built cane rods are often regarded as the finest rods of the period, particularly as the range of rods was extensive with many being made individually to suit the more affluent customers (and they needed to be). This is a classic three piece 11 foot built cane salmon spinning rod with a spare tip having all of the trademark Hardy fittings, lockfast ferrules, W reel seat, angled bridge rings, agate butt and tip rings, brass fittings with good patina etc.

The rod name "The Murdoch Rod" and Palakona 246936 patent number are printed onto the cane . On the butt cap is stamped E19397 (1930) and Hardy Bros. Makers Alnwick.

The cork handle is in excellent condition as are most of the intermediate whippings although the varnish is crazed. The rod comes with the original bag which is in very good condition, it even has the original ferrule stoppers. What more could you want

The rod has Palakona printed onto the cane with the patent number. On the butt cap is stamped A 13244 (about 1906) The Murdoch and Hardy Bros. Makers Alnwick.

The cork handle is in excellent condition as are most of the intermediate whippings (one is coming loose) although the varnish is crazed. The rod comes with the original bag which is need of some TLC with minor tears and a repair to the bottom section.
