Taxidermy

We have decided to expand our product range in angling by offering high quality taxidermy. The prices of each item are quoted but not the shipping costs. Old glass often being only 2mm thick is extremely fragile and so delivery will be calculated on an individual basis.

In the shop we have a couple of famous pike on display.  The first is the biggest [pike the Fred Buller MBE caught in Ireland and features in his outstanding work "The Domesday Book of Mammoth Pike".

The second pike also has links to Fred Buller although this was taken by Fred J taylor MBE from Wilstone Reservoir in Tring.  They were deadbait fishing when Fred J caught the fish in a boat.  Fred Buller tried to gaff the fish, but it jumped off the gaff throwing the hooks.  Fred B dragged the pike into the boat to make sure it didn't escape but it was damaged in the process.  Fred J then decided it would be better to despatch it and get it mounted. the fish features on the front of Fred J's book "More Favourite Swims".

If you have an item you wish to be preserved, we would be pleased to direct you to Chris Elliott, a specialist who was trained by Rowland Ward, the premier taxidemist of the 20th century, whose collectible work encompassed large or small creatures including big game through to small fish. His web page is www.taxidermist.uk.com
